Privacy policy
Effective August 13, 2026
The short version: your data has one home — your phone. Pshew records your drives, walks, and stays on your device, for you. We run no servers, require no account, and collect nothing.
What Pshew records, and where it lives
Pshew uses your phone's location and motion sensors to record trips and derive stays and statistics. All of it is stored in a database on your device. It is never transmitted to us — we have no servers to send it to — and never sold or shared with anyone.
Apple system services
Like most iOS apps, Pshew uses Apple's built-in services: reverse geocoding and routing (coordinates are sent to Apple to name places and to reconstruct the first moments of a trip), Apple WeatherKit (a trip's ending coordinates are sent to Apple once, at trip close, to stamp the trip with the temperature and conditions), and Apple Maps for map display. All of it is governed by Apple's privacy policy. These requests go to Apple, not to us.
Voice notes stay on the phone
Dictating a trip note uses your microphone and Apple's on-device speech recognition. Pshew requires on-device transcription — if your iPhone can't transcribe locally, dictation fails rather than send audio anywhere. No recording is stored; only the text you keep.
App Lock
Optional Face ID locking uses Apple's Secure Enclave. Apps — including Pshew — never see your biometric data; iOS only tells us "unlocked."
iCloud backup
If iCloud is available, Pshew writes a backup file to your own iCloud Drive container — readable only by you and your devices, like any file you put in iCloud. We cannot access it.
No tracking
No analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no fingerprinting, no third-party data collection of any kind in the app.
Your data, your exit
Export everything as JSON from Settings at any time, or any single trip as a standard GPX file. Deleting a trip deletes it. Deleting the app deletes the database. Your iCloud backup is yours to keep or remove in the Files app.
